Coronation Street Star Reveals Hair Transplant Results

For many people, talking about hair loss can be taboo, especially for those unfortunate enough to experience hair falling out in their 20s and 30s. However, celebrities are starting to break down the stigma by admitting to their own struggles with losing their hair.

The latest star to publicise his journey with balding is Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd, who recently unveiled the results of his hair transplant on his Instagram account.

Earlier this week, the 31-year-old actor told his 319,000 followers about his experience, showing the results of his hair transplant process, which he began nine months ago.

“This is the first time I’ve compared pictures to what I used to look like. I decided to get it done as it was affecting my mental health. To the point where I considered giving up acting and not being in the public eye [sic],” the soap star commented next to a photo of himself before and after the transplant.

Shepherd, who is known to millions as David Platt on Corrie, had more than 3,000 hairs removed from the back of his head and implanted to the front of his scalp, Huffington Post reported.

Since the procedure, he admitted his “body confidence had soared”, saying: “As an actor, my hair and my looks are crucial to my success and if I go bald then I am not going to be considered for younger roles as I get older.”

While he said he had always wanted an Elvis quiff, he has not been able to do one for years as his hair thinned out and his hairline receded during his 20s.

“My hair is 1,000 per cent better and it is lovely to hear the positive comments about the change in my appearance from everyone at Corrie,” Jack told the publication.

The celebrity is not the only star who has undergone the procedure to slow down the signs of ageing, as many stars are beginning to come clean about fixing their hair loss problem.

According to Hello!, this includes international footballer Wayne Rooney, who admitted to a hair transplant in 2011.

Like Shepherd, Rooney told his social media fans about the treatment, revealing to Twitter followers: “I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not. I’m delighted with the result [sic].”

James Nesbitt, star of Cold Feet and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey among other TV shows and films, also confirmed to fans he has undergone hair transplants in the past.

“Several years ago, I began losing my hair and, like a lot of men, it was a major concern to me, in fact it was practically an obsession,” he was reported as saying, adding: “Since then I have had two hair transplants and I am very pleased with the results. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they’ve changed my life.”
